The Swimmin' Women are selling a 2012 calendar with all proceeds going to the Rec Center to help with changing the pool to a saline chlorinator system.
Each month, one of the lovely ladies of the Aqua Fit classes, dressed (partially) in the bathing suits (sometimes), costumes (kinda), fancy hats (always), and jewelry (absolutely), pose in an area of the Rec Center. Imagine the fun of discovering which of your neighbors or friends posed for which month. The calendars are $20 with a portion being tax deductible. Tuesdays, Jan 17-March 6, 5-6 pm Zumba is a high-energy, Latin dance based workout that's both fun and easy to do. It's set up like an aerobics class, but feels like a party. Zumba burns up to 1,000 calories an hour! Come experience a zumba party every Tuesday night at the Bayfield Recreation Center from 5-6 pm. Zumba is set up for ages 13+, and is for all skill levels. Don't worry if you're not "a dancer" or have "2 left feet". Come have fun--experience the fitness sensation that's sweeping the nation! The zumba party is a drop-in class, and the cost is $7 per class for members, $10 per class for non-members. March 19-April 5 Mon and Thurs from 5:30-6:30 pm Keeps students moving at a cardiovascular level while performing exercises in the deep and shallow ends, challenging students while keeping the routine fun. Tues, Weds, Fri starting January 3 Join us for loads of calorie-burning fun with indoor Time Trials, Epic Climbs, County Line Sprints, and No-Drop rides! We'll spin from 5:15-6:00 pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, with a long-ride option (until 6:45 on Wednesdays). Plan to arrive a few minutes early to set-up your bike, fill your tires, etc. $5 per class, or $35 for the season. Call ahead to sign up. Must be able to touch bottom of pool on shallow end (3’4”). Level 2: 5:30-6:00 pm Students will successfully use primary skills and start developing aquatic locomotion. Level 3: 6:00-6:45 pm Students develop stroke readiness including elementary backstroke, treading water and diving. Level 4: 6:45-7:30 pm Students will build confidence and improve learned strokes including breaststroke, sidestroke, and basic turns. Mondays and Thursdays 5:15-6:15 pm Learn some basic martial arts and self defense from Brittany Schmitt, a second degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do. Martial arts helps improve reflexes and coordination, instills a positive attitude, builds confidence and self-esteem as well as improving concentration. First Steps to FitnessWant to get healthier and start exercising but don't know where to start? First Steps is a comprehensive, quick-start fitness plan for the individual who is new to exercise. The program is designed to ascertain the current level of fitness and establish a starting point for exercise programming. Under the guidance of a Certified Personal Trainer, clients will participate in a 3-phase program as follows:
Phase I. Client history questionnaire and physical assessment. Phase II. Goal setting and program design. Phase III. Follow-up and re-evaluation.
