                              ZUMBA IS BACK!

                              Zumba is back at the Rec Center Tuesday nights from 5-6pm. Come join the fitness sensation that is sweeping the nation!

                              School use of Fitness Room

                              The school will be using the Fitness Room February 21, 23, and 24 from 9:15-9:45.  The room will be full!

                              Chippewa Valley Donates $1500 to the Bayfield Rec Center Scholarship Fund
                              Chippewa Valley Bank donated $1500 as a matching challenge to our financial assistance fund.  This fund provides scholarships to low income families to obtain a membership or attend classes.  We need to raise an additional $1500 to complete the challenge and meet the fund's needs for the year.  To donate or inquire about a scholarship, call 779-5408.  Thank you, Chippewa Valley Bank!

                              Bayfield Recreation Center Recieves $3,015 Grant From Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation for a Pool Lift

                              The Bayfield Area Recreation Center is proud to announce that it has received a $3,015 Quality of Life grant from the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation.  The award was one of 77 grants totaling more than $508,000 awarded by the Reeve Foundation to nonprofit organizations nationwide that aid in providing more opportunities, access, and daily quality of life for individuals living with paralysis, their families, and caregivers.
                              The Rec Center will use the grant to install a pool lift that will provide handicap access to the pool.  The lift will be compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act and carry passengers from a wheelchair on the pool deck into the shallow end of the pool.
                              The Rec Center would also like to thank our local contributors to the lift – Memorial Medical Center for donating $2,000 and the ABC Thrift Shop in Washburn for donating $1,000.

                              Bayfield Area Recreation Recieves $10,000 Grant from Otto Bremer Foundation

                              The Bayfield Area Recreation Center received a $10,000 grant from the Otto Bremer Foundation.  This grant will be used to fund a wide range of core services and programs and help keep the Rec Center's doors open for another year.  This grant will be used to expand our financial scholarship fund to include financial assistance for classes and other programs including including swim team, swim lessons, martial arts, Spanish, nutrition, yoga and more.

                              Essentia Health Awards $9,562 in Grant Money to Bayfield Area Recreation Center

                              Thanks to Essentia Health, we are expanding our programs with Red Cliff to include more use by the Family Services, Youth Center, Domestic Violence Program. Mishomis House and Head Start.

                              Must meet CEP Qualifications:
                              Resident of Wisconsin
                              U.S. citizen or qualified alien at least 21 years of age and no more than 64 years of age
                              If between 25 and 64 years of age, must be a parent of a child under the age of 18 years or the primary caregiver of a relative child under the age of 18.  Can also be a Non Custodial Parent – meaning required to pay child support for a child(ren) under the age of 18.
                              Be unemployed for the past 4 weeks
                              Be unable to receive unemployment benefits – either not eligible or exhausted
                              Be unable to receive W-2 benefits
                              Household income must fall below 150% of the federal poverty level.
